Typically developing students needing assistance with their articulation and/or language
Social Skills Programs
Social coaching – 1 to 1 therapy time with therapist to increase awareness of social thinking and social interactions.
Groups – 2 to 3 students per group for 45 minute sessions. Groups are formed after an initial session with the therapist to assess your child’s strengths and needs and develop an individual treatment plan. Ages are approximate, but groups may form with older students requiring Level 1 or 2 skills.
Level 1 (approximately 4-5 year olds)
Addresses: greeting, requesting, staying with the group, participating in joint play, asking/answering peer questions when prompted, giving compliments
Level 2 (approximately 6-8 years old)
Includes show and tell, short social skill teaching, joint turn taking play
Addresses: listening/speaking turn taking, negotiating preferred activities, asking and answering questions, giving compliments/appropriate comments
Level 3 (7-16 year olds paired with sames age peers with like social skills)
Includes 15-20 minute social skills discussion, executive function joint projects involving planning, organizing, working together with peers, problem solving, and planning of special activities 2-3 per year.
